How
to obtain the lowest airline fares
Tip #2 Travel in the off season
Many tourist
areas have high demand seasons, off seasons and "shoulder"
seasons that border between the high seasons and the low seasons.
If the area
you are seeking to fly to is a high toursist traffic area such
as Orlando (Disney World, Universal Studios, Seaworld etc.) then
you can expect their high seasons to coincide when kids are out
of school. This includes summer, spring break, and the days between
Christmas and New Years. You can expect higher prices and more
difficulty getting tickets. In addition, the hotels will typically
charge more during the high seasons.
If you can
travel during the low season, you'll save money on tickets, hotels,
and also have a lot less crowds to fight.
That's why
right now we can buy a round trip ticket from our home town of
Spokane Washington to Orlando Florida for only $220.
There's not
as much of a demand in the winter time, which is the PERFECT time
for us northerners to go there. Not only do we get out of the
snow, but there are virtually no lines for many of the rides throughout
the week in the major theme parks. Hotels, restaurants, and car
rentals also cost less during the off season.
Often the
high season coincides with weather. That means winter for a skiing
area and summer for other areas.
It's not unusual
to find tickets to Europe from the East Coast during the winter
season for less than $400 round trip! From the West Coast, it's
possible to find Hawaii tickets for less than $400 during certain
times of the year.
Again you'll
often find better hotel prices in Europe or other countries during
their off season as well.
